Review by Jennifer Pflughaupt for The Mungles on
Movies
To hear what Edgar, Simon and Nick had to say
about "Hot Fuzz", listen to Jennifer's interview
with the hilarious trio!
Sergeant Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is London's
finest police officer who always does everything by the
book. He has an incredible record and his work is his
life, so much so that he is making the rest of the force
look like a bunch of saps. Concerned with the force's
image and tired of always being outdone by Sgt.
Angel, Chief Inspector Kenneth (Bill Nighy) transfers
him to the village of Sandford. Things are seemingly
perfect with no crime whatsoever, but things aren't
always what they appear to be. Angel settles into
Sandford when bizarre occurrences begin to surface
coupled with several freakish deaths which the town
passes off as accidents. Angel's newly assigned
partner, Danny (Nick Frost) is addicted to police action
films and hails Angel as a police god whom he can
learn a thing or two from. The dyad become the quiet
village's powerful police duo and embarks on the
murder-solving quest they seem destined to decode
together.
"Hot Fuzz" is the sophomore flick for the trio of Edgar
Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who have brought
their unconventional magic to the screen yet again.
The three have a chemistry that is natural, exciting and
fun to watch on and off screen. Their colossal
passion for entertainment and story-telling bleeds
through onto the screen which makes "Hot Fuzz" the
genius, comedic hit that it is.
I was a little worried that this film was going to be a
flop because "Shaun of the Dead" (the trio's freshman
flick) was so prime that there would be no
comparison. I am so glad my fears were completely
off point! Both films are incredibly hilarious and are
worth the price of admission! I give it 4.75 Point
Breaks out of 5.
