Review by Jennifer Pflughaupt for The Mungles on
Movies
"Live Free or Die Hard" starring the infamous Bruce
Willis as the quick-witted, smart mouthed cop John
McClane and the MAC guy, Justin Long, (who has also
stared in a slew of other flicks, a college favorite
being "Waiting") is an explosive new addition to the
now almost 20 year old "Die Hard" series. Taking a
more reserved route in his police career, McClane has
now become a detective.
One night, after spying on his daughter and her
maybe-boyfriend while on a date, he gets a call from
his superior to pick up a hacker named Matt Farrell
(Long) at the request of the FBI. The request comes
after a breach in online security that is beginning to
shut down the core of basic living in the United States,
which in turn is creating complete chaos.
In traditional "Die Hard" fashion, the world is coming
to an end and John McClane is the only man who is
able to save the day. This is THE flagship for what a
summer blockbuster should be. It has smart bad
guys, over the top action, a courageous and
capricious good guy and an acquisitioned sidekick. It
is the perfect formula for fun and adventure in a film.
The audience will laugh, clutch the armrest in
anticipation and cheer for the good guys. The acting
was superb, the plot was easy to follow but intelligent
enough to feel intrigued; and the action was
exhilarating. I give "Live Free or Die Hard" 5 out 5
Yippy Kay Ayes!
