Review by Jennifer Pflughaupt for The Mungles on

"Loaded", an independent film done by Bulletproof
Productions, starring a slew of possible familiars,
was, well, let's just cut to the chase, a poor attempt at
being a cool film. As I watched the opening scene I
was totally scared, uncomfortable and excited all at
the same time. It was an extremely intense scene that
gave me hope that this film is worth seeing. (With
independent films, it's either hit or miss.) As the
scene ended, this obnoxious, loud (and not very good)
music swells in and up popped this flashy chrome-
looking word - "Loaded". All of a sudden this
potentially great indie flick turned into a "Miami Vice"
wannabe. (And if you read my review on "Miami Vice",
you know that is nowhere anyone should set their
eyes to.) I then realized I committed to wasting almost
two hours on my life watching pure garbage.
The acting: Lame. Lame. And more Lame. It was as
if these people were in a high school play rather than
experienced actors in a film. I hold my standards high
considering that I have seen plenty of indie films with
EXCELLENT acting. It can be done. As a matter of
fact, my favorite film is an independent film that literally
almost did not get made, called "The Boondock
Saints". The characters are completely believable in
this film and I was sucked in from the very beginning.
With "Loaded", I tried, I really tried to believe Agent
Jason Boyer (Erick Gosse - and also one of the
writers of this film) and Bobbie Leoni (Thomas
Tamburello) and the rest of the cast, but it was just
one of those things where I had to continually
convince myself to keep watching. I like watching
films. That's my thing. And I especially like to watch
films all the way through, because you never know
what might turn out to be a great story unless you see
it from start to finish. Could you imagine me not
finishing "Fight Club"? I almost didn't. I would've had
to kick my own butt! But, I digress. I guess I digress
because I just don't care about this movie, "Loaded".
Had I not been expected to write a review on it, I
wouldn't have even finished it. That's how much this
movie, well, I am just going to say it, sucked.
The only thing I kind of enjoyed about this film was the
way the conversations between characters were
filmed; however, I feel like it was a bit overdone at
times. That gave the movie it's only redeeming value.
It looked professional, yet independent; and, from that
standpoint, it looked great. The plot had been done
before in other (much better) films twenty times over.
Nothing was original in this story whatsoever.
Overall, this film was a complete let down and I cannot
in good conscience recommend this movie to
anyone. I give it 1 melting ice cube out of 5.
