There are many adages that equate life to a race. We often ask ourselves what direction should we go in our lives. The wise man that lives at the top of the mountain says you must follow your path. Amid all this confusion about directions, paths, and races, it's easy to feel lost, give up, and stagnate in a routine. Mapquest doesn't make roadmaps for life, so when we come to that giant fork in the road or that huge obstacle, we turn tail and run in the opposite direction. Run Fat Boy Run shows us that those scary obstacles can be overcome by even the laziest and most unfit of men.

The most Dennis Doyle (Simon Pegg) ever ran in his life was the day he left his pregnant fiancÈ at the altar. Five years later, he has stagnated as a security guard who can't get it right in his job, parenting, or even where he left his house keys. When a handsome and rich American sweeps his ex off her feet, Dennis makes a decision to run in a London marathon to prove he can make it to the finish line and win back his love.

Simon Pegg is a brilliant and hilarious man. He plays the underdog, and he has impeccable comedic timing. He's teamed back up with Dylan Moran (Shaun of the Dead) who plays his best friend and trainer. Hank Azaria plays the romantic rival, Whit, who is as charming and charitable as he is arrogant and condescending.

David Schwimmer directed this film, and the difference is noticeable in comparison to Pegg's previous films. It's a bit warmer and more romantic and less of your kid brother's monkeying around. . I honestly was expecting something a bit punchier like Shaun of the Dead. Simon Pegg is a genius of a writer, and the jokes and gags had the audience in stitches

I absolutely enjoyed this film. I have an affinity for British humor, and Simon Pegg definitely delivered the goods. Run Fat Boy Run is rated PG-13 for some rude and sexual behavior, nudity, language and smoking. While it deals with family, I wouldn't bring the whole family. While the nudity is nothing more than rear ends, the sexual humor is definitely not appropriate for the under 13 crowd. I think this would be a great date film the guys can enjoy and has just enough girly stuff to win over the ladies. I give this film 3.75 out of 5 pairs of running shoes.
